At Monte Albert Dental Surgery, we offer veneer consultations to correct tooth imperfections, addressing both aesthetic and physical concerns. Our goal is to help you regain confidence in your smile and embrace your true self.

Dental Veneers - What Are They?

Dental veneers are custom-made, tooth-coloured thin shells that are permanently bonded to the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. These shells are customized in terms of colour, size, shape, and length to create the perfect smile. Veneers are a versatile solution, addressing various cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Discoloured teeth due to root canal treatment, excessive fluoride, coffee or tea stains, stains from oral drugs like tetracycline, and large resin fillings.

  • Broken or chipped teeth.

  • Misaligned, irregularly shaped, or smaller-than-average teeth.

  • Gaps between teeth.

  • Crooked teeth.

Different Types of Dental Veneers

Dental veneers come in different materials and colours, categorized into prep and non-prep veneers. Prep veneers include porcelain and composite, while non-prep veneers comprise Durathin veneers, Lumineers, and clip-on veneers.

  • Porcelain Veneers: Natural-looking, stain-resistant, and durable. They require a longer preparation and application procedure but are biocompatible, ensuring no negative impact on soft and gum tissue.

  • Composite Veneers: Resin-colored temporary veneers with minimal enamel removal, bonded quickly. However, they are prone to scratches, stains, and fractures.

How Do They Work?

During your initial visit, our dentist will examine your teeth and take X-rays to determine the suitability of veneers for you. If deemed appropriate, the tooth requiring a veneer will undergo enamel removal equal to the veneer's thickness. The dentist then takes an impression and sends it to the lab, with the veneer ready in two to four weeks.

The veneer is placed on the tooth for colour and fit examination, ensuring a proper match. After adjustments, it is permanently fixed using a special paste/cement, activated by a light beam. The final step involves checking your bite, with adjustments made as needed. A follow-up visit is recommended to assess gums and veneer placement.
